Den dystopiske actionthriller 'The Running Man' foregår i en brutal, mediestyret fremtid, hvor den desperate Ben Richards bliver kastet ind i det dødbringende tv-show The Running Man, hvor han skal overleve i 30 dage, mens professionelle dræbere jagter ham gennem byer og ødemark – alt sammen til nationens underholdning.
For Ben handler det ikke kun om ære, men om at redde sin syge datter. Men jo mere han kæmper imod, desto større en trussel bliver han mod hele systemet. Hans mod og trods vækker en hel befolkning, og snart er det ikke længere bare et spil – det er en revolution.
Filmen 'The Running Man' er baseret på en Stephen Kings roman udgivet som Richard Bachman og blev første gang filmatiseret i 1987 med Arnold Schwarzenegger i hovedrollen.
Nu har Edgar Wright ('Baby Driver') overtaget roret med Glen Powell ('Top Gun: Maverick') i rollen som Ben Richards.
