Den danske komedie 'Meter i sekundet' er filmatiseringen af Stine Pilgaards bestseller, der handler om de små og store kulturforskelle der kan opstå, i et land så småt som Danmark.
Filmen følger Marie, hvis liv bliver vendt op og ned, da hun modvilligt må flytte til Vestjylland, hvor hendes kæreste har fået job på Velling Højskole. Mødet med den vestjyske by er et kulturchok for Marie, man da hun begynder at lytte mere, end hun taler, lærer hun, at Velling måske netop er stedet for hende.
Filmen er instrueret af Hella Joof, der tidligere har stået bag bl.a. 'En kort en lang' og 'Happy Ending'.
